About west jordan

The city of West Jordan sits in the Salt Lake Valley at the southwest end and is surrounded by mountains. The name of the city originates from the Jordan River whose western banks are the beginning of the city limits.

The Bangerter Highway runs right through the city. The new Bingham Highway, Redwood Road, and Utah State Route 111 are just some of the other highways that service West Jordan, Utah.

The West Jordan area was originally settled in the 19th century to provide resources to Salt Lake City as well as military defense. Although growth was slow and steady in West Jordan for a while, once the 1970s hit, the area started really taking off and growing. Now, West Jordan is the fourth largest city in Utah.

Today, this Salt Lake City suburb stands on its own and continues to grow.
